Honey/Ginger/Lemon Tea

Honey ginger lemon tea is the most common honey tea in Europe, it is also one of my favorite beverage. But the first time I took it was so so embarrassing.

It was in a cold winter morning in crowded Loughborough market in London. Ten minutes after I enjoyed that sweet, sour and mild spicy tea, I had a diarrhea.

I was so sure that I didn’t had anything bad. Very upset returned to see that tea-maker, and I was told that Honey ginger lemon tea is good for clean constipation rather to purgatives. Whoops! Not a good choice in an early morning out from home.

But, don’t worry about drink that tea. I have tried many times later and never had the same situation. All because of the dose. Yes! Don’y put too much dose of each.

I wanted to briefly mention that honey ginger and lemon are excellent health foods in their own right.

Honey :

Honey has been used for thousands of years, nowadays  cooking with honey becomes more and more popular. Honey bread, honey biscuit, honey tea, honey barbecue, honey mustard and honey wine. It also used for antibiotic for centuries from Roman Empire. According to recent research, honey is effective as many common cough medicine, specially as treatment for sore throats.

To choose: Manuka Honey from New Zealand is known as the worlds strongest form of honey antibiotic.

Ginger:

Most Asia countries use ginger as important cooking ingredient. In China, sliced or whole ginger root is often paired with savory dishes such as fish and chopped ginger root is commonly paired with meat. We also make drink with sliced ginger cooked in water with brown sugar for the common cold. Ginger has been found effective in multiple studies for treating nausea caused by seasickness, morning sickness and chemotherapy. Ginger is also a safe remedy for nausea relief during pregnancy.

To choose: Young ginger Young ginger rhizomes are juicy and flesh with a mild taste.

Mature ginger roots are fibrous and nearly dry. The juice from old ginger roots is extremely potent

Lemon:

Contains lots of Vitamin C which is an essential nutrient for humans.  It is also full of phytochemicals. These are plant constituents that help boost the immune system and much more. Lemon is used very commonly in cooking. Lemon cake, lemon biscuit, lemon juice. Fish are marinated in lemon juice to neutralised the odor.It is also used to marinate meat for a tenderizing the meat. Lemon essence had an valuable use in aromatherapy, scientific researchers reveal that lemon oil aroma enhance mood.

To choose: In average, an lemon contains 3 teaspoons juice. The fresher the better.
